ISP Scout pulls provider availability from the FCC Broadband Data Collection, which ISPs file quarterly at the census block level. We map those blocks to ZIP codes and surface the providers serving the largest portion of each area.
Speed data comes from Measurement Lab (M-Lab), a nonprofit that publishes millions of NDT speed test results monthly. We compute the 24-month median for each ZIP code and ISP combination, using AS number to identify the carrier. This gives a realistic picture of typical performance — not peak speeds under ideal conditions.
